Velvet Mills is the second phase of Urban Splash’s conversion of Lister Mills coming after Silk Warehouse the first building to be developed at Lister Mills.
Lister Mills dominates the Bradford skyline. It is a glorious reminder of Bradford’s Victorian past and its once legendary industrial prowess. When built The Times proclaimed that the Mills were as “breathtaking as Versailles” - to this day it still manages to take your breath away.
Involvement of Urban Splash - arguably Britain's most innovative backland developers - has put down an important marker attracting both home-seekers, and smart-money investors.
The first Lister Mills was built in Manningham in 1838. It burnt down in 1871, and the building that replaced it spreads across 27 acres, between Heaton Road, Oak Lane and Lilycroft Road, with 16 acres of floor space.
This development will be one of the most dominant structures in Bradford previously being the largest silk factory in the world.
